Soft diet.
soup: broth or tomato, Nothing w/ pieces of food in it!
big or small, can get in the gap.
jell-o, pudding, popsicles, sprite, plain ice cream, yogurt, mashed potatoes, etc...
Oh yeah, the relax part:
What relaxs u?
reading, music, bubble bath, ???
a walk @ sunset?, a massage! (thats my vote)
Apparently, u don't like the needles?...ummm.
This diet is only 4 48 hours, afterwards.
And the bleeding is normal.
If it becomes excessive, or doesn't stop...
get a T bag (lipton, kind of T) moisten it, some...
then put it on the empty hole,
gently bite down on it.
Hold it there.
That should take care of the bleeding.

p.s. I just thought of something.
Get Joe to get a washcloth,
get it wet w/ really HOT water,
have him use the cloth to wipe ur feet,
then after u r enjoying the sensation ;~)
have him put lotion on W/ a foot massage.
This works Great 4 me,
when I feel a migraine coming on.
(except it ain't Joe) hahaha..
luv ya sis,
Bambi

Best foods are soups - thick pureed ones like pumpkin - ones with bits of chicken etc sound good but you forget how much you need to chew! (if you have a blender you can puree ANYTHING, a normal dinner etc - it wont look like much but will still taste good - like you would for a baby) Meal replacements like Sustagen and Up N Go etc are really good as they fill you up and have all the vitamins, protein, carbs etc you need. You could also make some great smoothies and juices etc with a blender.

As for relaxation I would recommend a nice bath with some essential oils and epsom salts and some funny DVDs - I think a laugh always makes you forget the pain for a little while anyway.

I used to work for an oral surgeon (and have had some teeth pulled out myself) so can tell you that the swelling and pain will be worse tomorrow and the day after that, (especially noticeable if it was a bottom tooth - with most people getting some bruising and swelling if it was a lower molar) but after 2 days you will feel much better and then in a week completely back to eating normal foods. It is a good idea in the first 24 hours to take some anti-inflammatory pills (i.e ibuproferen, aspirin etc) and try to put an icepack on your face - 15 mins on, 30 mins off and so on - a packet of frozen peas or corn wrapped up in a tea towel is perfect as you can mold it to your face. If it was an 'easy' tooth for the dentist to remove (i.e really decayed) then you probably wont have much swelling or lingering pain, but if it was a difficult extraction then expect to feel worse tomorrow - but if you take some anti-inflammatories and ice your face - you will feel alot better.

Remember NOT to stick your tongue in the hole where your tooth was - this can dry out the socket - you dont want that. Also if they put in stiches these should usually fall out by themselves within 10 days and feel like a weird piece of string - dont freak out - thats normal

hope you feel better soon - you'll be amazed how great you feel in a week when you have no dental pain and are all healed.

Try smoothies and soft foods: Your gum will need time to heal before you start putting 'normal' food back on it again.

As for relieving stress- well, there is a spot between the jaw and the ear that, when massaged, can help you relax that whole side of your face. See if you can find it.

Feel better!

For the first 2 days or so, eat soft mushy food like yogurt, oatmeal or mashed potatoes. Don't suck through a straw. It will give you try socket and you'll be in more pain than you were before the extraction. RELAX, TAKE IT EASY. Take Advil for the discomfort.

I had 4 the teeth taken out too in spite of the very undeniable fact that it wasn't unexpectedly; I did it 2 at a time. For me, i don't think of it replaced into something "stressful", of direction i replaced into worried yet actually not traumatized. additionally, they are going to offer you a shot so which you do not sense soreness.

OMG you have the best excuse to eat ice cream for the next week!! Keep it away from the wound, the nerves may be touchy, but beside that ice cream, wonderful ice cream, all favors, all colors, all kinds,,,,,,,,Sorry I got a little carried away!

First off do not spit your mouth needs to clot.....spitting will cause that clot not to form.
Stay away from foods that are spicy, crunchy, that will break off and get down in that area.
Don't use any mouthwash for a while also

Broth from soup. (no noodles) Pudding and jello. No sucking through a straw. If it bleeds, clamp on a tea bag. (Not too tight)

jello, pudding, soup, ice cream. Just don't drink out of any straws because you could get a dry socket
