Depends on whether you feel that a formal verbal expression of gratitude is the only possible way to be grateful. If you do, then you need to say grace. Otherwise you can just live with the awareness of gratitude. As far as digging like a pig, it's not a particularly attractive choice, but if you're not interested in being accepted in polite society, go for it!

Do we get any more options? Well... I don't say grace because I'm not Christian but I prefer not to "dig like a pig" either.

I think there are some choices in between the two. If you do not want to be thankful for your meal that is one thing. Eating like an animal is not really the closest option though.
How about if you don't say grace at least eat with some?

Are those really your only two options?
What, pray tell, is reportable about this answer? People who do not say grace before meals do not necessarily eat like animals--by which I suppose you mean without utensils or without manners.

keep on digging girl
i have always thought grace should be said after a meal ( if you are going to say it at all )
as you are thanking someone for something you might not like
so surely you should wait till you have eaten it to see if you like it
all the best
Ian :)

We always thank God for our meals!
