17 years as a fearful Catholic - no faith - just fear. Talked to God by saying memorized prayers.
Then- 25 years as a pissed off ex-Catholic. Categorized myself as an Agnostic. Talked to God by yelling at "him" - when things went wrong in my life.
6 years now as a Religious Scientist. I believe that God is LOVE - and it's easy to have faith. I don't believe that God is a big Daddy in the sky - to whom you ask for things. God is the Power of Love. It works through us.
Having faith - is pretty much having faith in myself. That is as easy as you make it. For me - it was easy as soon as I understood and fully accepted this philosophy - which took about 6 months of learning about it.
Prayer - is simply knowing there is a power (God/Love) - and knowing It's mine to use to do most anything I want to do - and being grateful for that. We call prayer - Spiritual Mind Treatment. God is a Power that is available to me. I don't really talk to God as a "separate being" anymore. I know that It works through me - so I just "talk to myself" - if you will.
Hope that makes sense!!
Namaste!!!

Faith came easily because God gave it to me. However it was only a measure of Faith...it was up to me to exercise it and strengthen it. That takes time the same way strengthening your body takes time. My ability to Talk to God was easy...it was hearing that was the hard part. I had to learn the difference between His voice, mine, and the devil's. When I see something He is doing, I am doing or the devil is doing. I call it my Third Eye...My spiritual Eye....As a Christian it is vital to your growth that you learn to develop it.

I'm still an agnostic but long to have faith. I expressed my doubt about the trinity concept to a former minister and he said that to have faith you have to "put yourself in the light," by which he meant go to church and study the bible. If you stay away from the church of your choice you don't put yourself into a situation where your faith may grow. It may not, of course, but at least you have given religion a chance. Theology is a fascinating study even if you are not religious.

I was not raised in a religious family so it has been a learning process. The more that I learn, the stronger it gets. I wish I could say that it has been easy, but when you are surrounded by those that don't believe, it is hard. I personally have had to work at it. It all depends on your background with religion as to how it comes to you.

Faith, like everything else, goes up and down. Read C.S. Lewis -- the Screwtape Letters, Letter VIII.

The law is not of faith: Galatians 3:11,12.
So begin faith-->hope-->charity with grace,
unless you want your hope to be hopeless.
For only grace is hopeful of none perishing.
Law: hard: Mk10:24, bitter-sweet that ends bitter: Jam 3
Grace: easy: Mt 11:30, easy to be intreated: Jam 3:17
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

The Lord is never done with us.
Our journey never ends, when you walk the path of faith.
Faith has no bounds, so there is no end.
It takes faith to know He is present, even when there is silence.
He is the voice of Peace.
