that you can never lose your salvation and others claim you can.

I thought from a baptist faith that you are told you can never lose your salvation where in christianity if you fall away you basically have to get saved over again.

primoa1970: that is like being given a free ticket to sin because your salvation is never lost. you said yourself it couldn't be destroyed so why stress yourself out about keeping under god's cloud of safety... when you know your salvation will never be lost ... oh unless of course to tell the holy spirit to get on his bike

glitterkitty: I understand baptists are christians I was trying to convey the fact that there are so many different denominations. In my area there are chrismatic christians, non charismatic christians and baptists... and they disagree on quite a few things like gifts of the spirit and speaking in tongues and things like that, that is why I said it that way.It was actually a baptist that told as soon as you aquire salvation your name is written in the book of life and you have no more worries the rest of your life...likely story huh?

Satan_1: I know they can't make up their god forsaken minds lol

Because its a spiritually warfare and religious mindsetted people have been told this to spread doubt, and to make people loose their focus on the relationship with God, once you have been saved you can't loose it. I turned away from God for about 2 years and come back, and know spiritually that im accepted again, and that you cannot give back or throw away that gift, you can try but in the end, you'll relise that, He has let you do that and you never lost the spirit inside you.

Not me: That is a false doctrine of MEN which nulifies the word of God.

"Are you saved?" asks the Fundamentalist. The Catholic should reply: "As the Bible says, I am already saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:5–8), but I’m also being saved (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12), and I have the hope that I will be saved (Rom. 5:9–10, 1 Cor. 3:12–15). Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11–13)."

This is a long debate. I wrote a paper on this once. I believe if a person would tell God that they no longer wanted salvation, he would respect that. But then the question would be was the person really saved in the first place.

I was raised a Southern Baptist. We were of the Non-drinking type.

I found it ironic that the preacher, after getting my next door neighbors mother drunk ended up having an affair with her.

Later she divorced her husband and left him with 5 kids to run away with the preacher to another state.

This was the same woman that continuously lectured me that my questions about god and the church we the path to evil and eternal damnation.

To me that is the epitome of what religion is. It wears a pretty smiling mask of love and peace, but underneath it is ugly and filled with self service and greed.

People are often corrupt, thus too is their religion.

I think its more of turning your back on it..

Salvation has been given...once He gives he doesn't take it away...that's grace, because when you turn back around he's ALWAYS there! If God is omnipresent how do we get away?

You can't! You can try to delude yourself, but its impossible. You are the image and the likeness. There is no escape!

John 1:12but as many as recived Him(Jesus)to them He gave the power to become sons of God and to them that believe on His name.

God promised that and He is not a liar.

I believe that once our names are written in the book of life and we continue to ask for forgiveness there is no "2ND saved program". We are human and natural sinners. If we fall away, far away, it is a simple matter between you and Christ to get back on track.

Because eternal security for the true believer is truth....

If you are truly in the faith.....salvation CANNOT EVER be lost.

Why would God give us an imperfect gift that can be destroyed?

See John 10:30 & Romans 8:28-39
& Ephesians 1:13-14

The only thing you are not forgiven for, the only way to have your name removed from the Book of Life, is blasphemy of the Spirit.
