Coz we are not allowed to have even one ILLEGAL partner. Adultery is a serious crime in Islam and last time I checked, the punishment was very severe. Why have you legalized prostitution. Coz some men are just satisfied with one. Prostitution is also a severe crime in Islam. If such shameful practices were allowed, the whole purpose of marriage would be flawed.
Under legal marriage, you have the right on your children, and you make family relations. You have an aunt, an uncle, in laws, etc.
It's optional anyway and we are discouraged to have more than one wife if we can't do justice between them.

because the man have a desire will getting marry is better then cheating , will god said u can marry 4 if u can treat them equal which is a hard thing & because his first wife maybe die , or she cant have children . my dad married 4 but not at the same time . my mum died & then he married 1 & she couldnt have children then my step mum & i have 2 brother & 1 sis & then they keep on fighting so they got divorce & he fall in love with this 1 & i have to brothers from her & we dont feel we are not family & we are happy .
they can marry 4 if they want but few who does most ppl i know have 1

Because you are allowed upto 4 wives but if you have even 1 girlfriend the punishment is severe.
A man is given every avenue to not produce b*stard children.
If he ever has illegal relations outside of marriage then he is taken out of society.
According to the Bible -- A society of B*stards loses Gods blessings for 10 generations.
Most Muslims only have one wife (partner) their ENTIRE life which is truly monogamy. While amazingly those who claim to be monogamous have been with dozens of women/men in their lifetime.

Muhammad allowed polygamy because in his time Arabic people were killing between themselves for blood revenge.
Practically it is easy to understand that such possibility is just an ideal, how to find 4w for 1m?
