Two days ago I was eating chicken strips and one of them was a little extra crispy and when i bit down on it I hurt my gums in the back of my mouth (left side were wisdom tooth would be). Now when I say I hurt my gums, when I feel in side my mouth along the side of my gums they're smooth until I reach the spot it hurt there are what feels like tears or tiny little cuts. So than the gum surrounding my wisdom tooth began to get sore and slightly swell. Well now that same area (the gum over the wisdom tooth) is completely swollen and very uncomfortable and a flap has begun to form. Can anyone help me and tell me why this may be happening?

you probably slightly tore your gums, and you need to see a dentists about the little flap-thing. I would watch what you eat, go easy on foods, and eat softer foods for a few days. You probably just need to give your mouth a rest. If you smoke, try to cut down, it'll be hard, but do try , because cigarette smoke carries alot of bacteria that could infect your mouth.

you may have torn a bit of skin off your gums or maybe your wisdom teeth are pushing through more.. Maybe you should see a dentist or get someone to have a check inside your mouth and see if they can notice anything.

You need to call your dentist and get in there soon. It sounds like the food got trapped and is now causing and infection. It will start to hurt more if you don't get it looked at. They may need to give you an antibiotic if an infection did in fact set it. Best of luck.

you should go to a dentist as quick as possible. The piece of chicken probably got into the tooth and infected it.
