Coors light to become the official beer of NASCAR
Published September 25th, 2007 in NASCAR News
Coors Light will announce Tuesday a $20 million deal over five years to become the official beer of NASCAR starting in January. Coors replaces Anheuser-Busch as the official beer sponsor. The new deal includes renaming the pole award to the Coors Light Pole Award from the Bud Pole Award.
For Coors, the NASCAR deal also replaces its sponsorship of the No. 40 Dodge in the top-tier Nextel Cup Series.
“Our deal was up with those guys and this opportunity came up,” says Andy England, chief marketer for Coors. “It feels like we are elevating our game.”

I think Coors Light Pole sounds pretty stupid, Bud Pole flows more.

That does sound quite lame...but probably because we are so used to hearing that for so many years. One thing I've noticed (and I can be guilty of this myself) is that NASCAR fans DO NOT like change! I still don't like Nextel Cup (still call it Winston Cup) and now it's going to Sprint Cup and will I've been with Spring for nearly 10 years...that just does not sound right!

Why in the heck is everyone so concerned that coors light is now the official sponsor of NASCAR. Do you think they wont let you bring Bud into the track or something. I mean people are freaking out about this. What the hell is the big deal. Its a sponsor change, it happens all the time. Winston/Nextel/Sprint. It doesnt mean Bud is going to dissapear from the sport and that wearing Bud memorbilia is going to get you thrown out of races. People get over it, Bud isnt the beer of nascar...the world will still turn, Jeff Gordon will still win and Jr will still be an also ran.

It stayed the Winston Cup so long people got so use to it that it's hard to imagine anything else. One thing that people has a hard time with is change. Change is a hard thing to accept sometimes. While Nascar is a competition sport I see no reason why there can't be a little competition between sponsors. It's a competitive sport right? It will take getting use to but half way through next season everyone will get use to it. Hat's off to Anheiser Busch for bringing the sport so far along. When Kasey is sporting around his new ride next year you won't pay attention to the name.

Coors Light is a WAY better tasting beer than Bud
It will take some time getting use to since Bud has been a sponsor for so long but still Budweiser sucks.

THE SILVER BULLET SHOOTOUT!!!
Ha that could not go better. Hell the teams could even go as far as painting their cars silver for Daytona Weekend, and the trophy, could be a combination of a Coors Light can, shaped as a Silver Train, with a Silver Bullet somewhere in there. I think it would be fantastic.
Hell I'm going to e-mail Coors.

Doesn't matter to me. I drink Coors Light, have for years. Bud Light gives me a headache. Never did like Bud itself except when I've been in St. Louis.
