It's like the hole in a sock which lets the skin shine through.

It works better in Hinduism - the clouds are like what covers the mind in maya - the light bursting through is enlightenment [pun intended].

But the posters are really nothing more than sentimental pap.

Because Jesus is the Light. The sun bursting through the clouds is symbolic of that. Also it is to show beauty and to be a reminder that only God could have created something like that.

It's supposed to be God.

You have to remember - sun worship was very common back when the christian religion was formed, and especially after the romans (sun worshippers) embraced 'christianity' in the form of catholicism. They changed the sabbath from the traditional saturday to 'sun'day, and put a lot of their superstitious b.s. into the pot with the rest of the ancient mythology.

Maybe it was a cloudy day when they took the original photo.

I prefer to think of 'heaven' in a 'sky at night' context, with stars and blackness.
