I'm surprised at the people who are answering step. A step brother is the son of your step father, which is no blood relation to you. A half brother is like you asked.. having the same mother (or father). I have both in my family, though I consider my half sister my real sister since I grew up with her.

Yes. My brother and I have different fathers. My mother was married previously before marrying my father. My brother is by blood my half brother, but in my heart...he is just my brother.

Since you have a common parent, you are half brothers. Any children your Father had from a previous marriage would be your step-brothers.

Yes it makes you half brothers but if your really close to him, it makes no difference he your brother and that all that's mater.
