I don´t know anything about paintings-how do we display them?

Oil paintings are not matted. Prints are.

If it is a painting done on a stretched canvas, it gets framed, no glass. You can have a linen liner put next to the painting, then the frame on the outside. If it is a water color or print, it should be matted, then framed under glass. The frame shop will help you decide the best way to go.
