Would the correct answer be that you need to be a General for that to happen?

Hey I was asking a QUESTION! Was I claiming to know everything...no... which is why I was asking a QUESTION.

Why is it I also link conservative lgfb, in in trying to determine if Petreaus was worthy of a medal of valor, isn't commented on? Kind of undercuts the ad hominium attacks about Daily Kos.

My question is consistent with what was reported in USA Today in the battle of Najaf in 2003.
But even if Daily Kos was the only source, doesn't make wrong, does it?

Depends on what branch of the service you belong too. An Air Force member recieved a Bronze Star for refueling airplanes. He wasn't even in Iraq.
A Marine saved three fellow crewman ( Including his commander) when their tank hit a mine and was then under enemy fire. He has been nominated but has not yet had the medal approved.
Rank also has something to do with it. Which explains how John Murtha recieved Purple Hearts in the rear working in Intelligence. Was never with a combat unit.

Not necessarily... there are FIRM requirements for what is needed for a medal.

For those who ACTUALLY have served, it is AMAZING / AMUSING who DOES and does NOT get medals / awards.

I had a maintenance guy who DESERVED a Navy Achievement medal for engineering a part from scrap during a very important TORPEX (Torpedo Exercise). But because he was replacing a part that was FORGOTTEN by the Maintenance OFFICER... he got nothing. A medal would have acknowledged the officers ERROR.

I see no reason General Petreaus didn't deserve a Bronze Star

The Bronze Star Medal is a United States Armed Forces individual military decoration which may be awarded for bravery, acts of merit, or meritorious service.

From my information, he have been given it from exemplary management below fireplace. The bronze celebrity isn't a heroism award, that is extra like a gold celebrity in basic college for being above familiar. you're able to get the bronze celebrity without the V for devising a extra useful thank you to cost a construction, arising extra useful camouflage, growing to be a memorial etc. that is why there's a bronze celebrity with and without the "V." there is even a civilian version for the comparable style of service.

Hey "Bucket-Head" if a mortar landed at your feet your the kind of thick skinned nut who wouldn't even notice it!

It explained here very precisely and correctly by our mutual colleague what the Bronze Star is awarded for. Its also my understanding of American Military awards that its regarded as a senior decoration?

I present on occasions when US servicemen were thus honored.

No. Medals are given for what you DO not what happens to you. The only exceptions are the Purple Heart and the Prisoner of War medals.

Do you have the complete write on how he got the medal or are you still hung up on dailykos as your only source of information?

BTW:
When you can't find any other source beside dailykos backing up the story it raises question.
It would be like me saying that Rush Limbaugh says you are wrong and you have you accept him as good source.

It is called balance.

3 minutes ago you didn't even know what a bronze star was.

Now you are trying to question the circumstances that Petraeus was awarded his medal?

You really should just stop trying to smear Petraeus. You are a coward who probably never even considered joining the service out of fear you might get a hangnail or something.

Just go back to Kindergarten Kos and leave the wars to the big boys.

You have got to be kidding right?..if you lived, you might...and I say might...get a purple heart?..And only if you were wounded..or after they brought you back in a box..
They don't just hand out the bronze star for nothing!...

No you won't get one, I had one land about 200 feet from my hooch while we were sleeping, I just got the pleasure of rocks being thrown at our trailers and getting an early wake up to run to the bunkers in freezing cold weather...
suck it up!
