The other posters are correct: A doctor will be able to give some some medication that can assist you for this. Did you know that the medications that treat panic attacks are also used to help people sleep? You could kill two birds with one stone!
Next time you get a severe panic attack, grab a paper or ziplock bag and breathe in and out of it a few times every minute or so. This will supply your blood with some extra carbon dioxide, which will help normalize your blood pH and alleviate some of the feelings of panic. I hope this was helpful for you, good luck with college, it will get better.

Wow. Sorry to hear you can't sleep. That's part of life. I'm a little surprised that you mentioned relying on your mom at your age to comfort you at night. Most children learn ways to comfort themselves upon awakening, and usually learn different little rituals to help them get to sleep. You need to learn how to relax away from home. You may want to try some Tylenol PM to help you sleep. Also be sure you get plenty of physical activity in your spare time. A tired body sleeps better.
