I don't think moving to a different political perspective than the one you have is any way to take on a specific viewpoint on a specific issue. Have the courage of your convictions, and argue the case against right-wing anti-immigrationists on your own terms. If people agree with you, they will support you, if they don't they will argue against you. That's the nature of democracy.

As far as the BNP are concerned, the best way to take them on is to point out at every opportunity that they have absolutely nothing constructive to add to the debate on immigration at all, and simply use peoples worries about it as a way of duping them into supporting the BNP's xenophobia, bigotry and racism.

Other right wing parties want to reduce or stop immigration into the UK and repatriate illegal immigrants. The difference with the BNP is that, in addition, they want to get rid of legal immigrants as well as people who were born and bred in the UK but have immigrant ancestry, and particularly black, Asian and Jewish people.

In their mission statement, they describe "indigenous Britons" as "people whose ancestors were the earliest settlers here after the last great Ice Age and which have been complemented by the historic migrations the Celts, Anglo-Saxons, Danes and Norse". That either means they define immigrants as everyone who's ancestry doesn't date back further than the Norman Conquest, or it is a not very cleverly disguised way of saying your OK as long as your white.

the way to solve the immigration problem is to give your vote to the far right - you may not agree with many of their policies but you probably don't agree with all of the labour Tory or liberal ones either.

for the first time in 30 years i am now going to vote bnp simply because the immigration issue must be dealt with and the others don't have the courage or inclination to deal with it.
stopping immigration does not make you a racist - I'm not suggesting any one with a skin other than white should be sent packing - many British people have come from non - white or non - English backgrounds including myself.
the difference is i have always worked and paid into the system- if we don't do it soon it will be too late and even i will have to join the exodus of people to the continent - i will however make sure i have money to live on - pay tax in the country i settle in and i will learn the language and get medical insurance for my needs.

if immigrants had to do this in the UK they wouldn't come.

An open discussion on would be great wouldn't it? With guidelines provided for all on what is/or is not racist before hand.......or the group writing or agreeing what is or is not acceptable in a discussion about race before hand.....led by moderators who were not overwhelmed by political correctness gone mad!
Or, a Big Brother style programme with educated and considerate Europeans representing their own country.
More open discussion (where people are not afraid to be shouted down or accused of racism) is the only way to quell this quietly seething nation.....

i think of it replaced into good that they deported her, there are an incredible variety of immigrants that are unlawful and that they get deported, i don't see why they took see you later with this female, she's no distinctive, so it does not have been honest to allow her stay in this united states illegally, somewhat if she stole somebody else's social protection variety, or in spite of she did, she suggested she wasn't a criminal, properly stealing something that's not united statesis against the regulation. i don't see what the huge deal replaced into, she's unlawful, all they had to do replaced into purely deport her, i knew faster or later she could get sent lower back to Mexico.

Move to libertarianism.
Less government regulations, no social health care, no social welfare. Immigrants have to find their own way, be of market value and compete for job positions as anyone else. They have to pay for their needs as anyone else. They have to deal with the cultural and language barriers like anyone else.
Immigration will go on but it's going to be limited to people that can offer products and services to the market and don't cost to the taxpayers.

Why would we want to take on the right over immigration?

so more people can come to England with 8 kids, no desire to work and live off benefits that decent people pay for?

The only people that should be allowed in are GENUINE asylum seekers, people who wont drain public finance, ie with enough money to support THEMSELVES, or students.

Grow up

immigration TO THE UK should be stopped unless....

YOU CAN SPEAK AND READ AND WRITE ENGLISH

YOU HAVE A SKILL OR PROFESSION THAT IS NEEDED

YOU CAN PUT A HUGE DEPOSIT OF FUNDS IN THE GOVERNMENTS COFFERS IN CASE YOU NEED TO BE SENT BACK HOME

IT DOES NOT MATTER YOU HAVE FAMILY HERE TOUGH ASK THEM TO GO BACK TO YOU

YOU ARE NOT A BUR DON ON HOSPITAL AND WELFARE

YOU DON'T LIVE NEXT DOOR TO ME

YOU OBEY AND RESPECT THE ENGLISH WAY OF LIFE AND DO NOT TRY TO CHANGE IT EXCEPT IN YOUR OWN HOME

YOU UNDERSTAND ALL THE ABOVE AND IF YOU BREAK ONE RULE OR CANNOT MEET THE STANDARD YOU DON'T COME IN OR ARE SENT HOME NO QUESTIONS

Just ignore them. They'll all clear off to Spain soon. I hear they've opened a branch of the BNP in Benidorm.
