My postherpetic neuralgia is now well into 2d yr. I am under med supervision, taking gababenton, using lidocaine pads and taking ibuprophen. Pain is in right armpit are and right shoulder. Will appreciate all comments

acupuncture is famous for relieving neuralgic pain. I'm sure it would help you tremendously. I don't think Medicare Is going to cover this though. That's the biggest problem. ask your medical doctor if he refers you would Medicare pick up the cost.

Medicare usually will only pay for things that they consider life threatening. I wish you the best.

Medicare will not cover acupuncture. However, some Medicare Advantage plans will. Contact a local independent agent to find out if there are any in your area.

Appears that your diagnosis only reflects the symptom you are undergoing presently... It does not indicate what is causing the neuralgic pain. If the shoulder and arm are involved, would indicate the brachial plexus involvement. To cause nerve pain would suggest there is some nerve root pressure in the lower cervical spine. May be interesting to find out what is causing the pressure to the nerves of the area. May involve a rather severe disc problem in the cervical region. If this hasn't been ruled out, your present diagnosis is a bit errant.
