I am in plaster for a broken wrist and have been for 5 weeks, the pain from the break is rare now but I have a constant mild ache is this normal?

yes, this is very normal. Take an extra calcium and magnesium tablet twice daily and you will find the ache reduce. This will also help in the healing process.

It usually means that it's getting better - as it's a sign that the bone calcium is forming around the break. After the plaster is off you may continue to get the odd ache, but this may be only when the weather is cold etc.

Depending how complex your break was, you are probably within a few weeks of having the plaster off, but you could increase your chances of a good recovery, by eating/drinking things with high levels of calcium. Oddly enough, skimmed and semi-skimmed milk has more calcium in it than full fat milk.

The discomfort is usually associated with lack of motion of the extremity. This is what will take some time to remedy after the cast is removed. Will have to retrain the muscles of the inactive area.
