I asked the same question a year or so ago and I ended up in a park. It was freezing cold and I felt I had to keep such a close eye on my girl so that she didnt get into spiders or poison ivy. We ended up going back to my house and that was the best part. If you dont have a big house maybe a relative's? If it is baby proof and there are toys, it will be easier for you!
The baby is too young to really know it is her birthday party so she probably wont even know the difference of where you have it. I suggest doing a theme of something she is into like puppies or baby einsteins, elmo, etc. Oh and get a little smash cake for her. My daughters was too big and a little overwhelming for her! Just some suggestions! Have fun and happy birthday to your little one!

For my daughters 1st birthday, we invited family and friends over to our house and had a bbq in the garden. Obviously it is not really bbq weather now but your home should be big enough for family and friends and just put on a finger buffet. We bought a ball pool for the little kids and took her toys outside. I think at this age though, the party was more for us than her as she was too young to really understand lol.

A cookout at the local park would be perfect. I have an idea that I did with my kids from their first birthday till their 18. I bought a cloth tablecloth and had people at the party draw a picture with their name under it or just write their name/year on it. After the party I would backstitch it. You don't have to backstitch it you can use permanent ink if you would like. But its nice to go back and see who was at your party and remember.

For my daughters first birthday we just had a little tea party in the house with family and friends. My daughter was quite unaware what was going on - and you don't want your child to get too overwhelmed by the attention.
Just make it a nice quiet happy day!

We hired a soft play centre for the kids. It had a cafe for the adults. Was about £7 per head but worth it as no cleaning up to do and kids enjoyed it

awww first birthdays are special!! But not for the kids! I had all the family earlier this year - little one was quite bemused by it all though and took days and days to open all his pressies! I think its for parent really - to mark a special day. Do what feels right for you!! And have a lovely day.
