This shows up on Daily Kos:

And is downplayed, but not refuted in little green footballs:

Wikipedia does not mention Petraeus having won a medal of Valor.

LOL! Conservatives have no sense of irony in how they can denounce Kerry for not having earned his medals, but accept that Petreaus earned his awards without question.

I can conclude that Daily Kos word choice :"Petraeus Wore FRAUD Medal At Testimony" is wrong. The word fraud is not defined that way. BTW, I'm not a big Daily Kos fan, I recognize the bias. Nonetheless, the information in the aricle is enlightening.

Base on what I've learned (and I was trying to learn and understand, why I also linked to lgfb's)

1. Petraeus appears to had got a medal of valor under cricumstances which were less than the cirumstances others have been denied a bronze star. It seems Petraeus got his Bronze Star more on his rank rather than the facts which brought the award.

2. It appears Petraeus is a beneficiary of Army hero making fiction just as Jessica Lynch was a beneficiary of Army hero making fiction.

While Daily Kos goes over the top in slamming Petraeus,

The mass media has done little to scrutinize exactly what kind of "hero" is Petraeus, as loudly proclaimed by conseervatives.

It's called a Bronze Star Medal, and it is sometimes awarded with valor.

If you actually bought into Kos' smear then you are an idiot.

The Army takes the wearing of unearned medals very seriously. About 2 months ago they actually sentanced a soldier to a year in prison for wear a silver star and a legion of merit without having orders for them. Somehow I think Gen. Petraeus is smart enough (multiple PhD's) to not wear unearned medals....John Kerry on the other hand....

Hey Robert, Boorda was called out by COL (RET) David Hackworth, now deceased. He was hardly a liberal in anyone's book. But I guess that doesn't fit you'r preconcieved notion of the world, does it?

He cannot award himself a medal. In his case as commander of 101st Airborne the theater commander would have to award it to him, which was LTG Sanchez at the time. That would not make it phony.

NO.

Just like the liberal lounge-chair slugs who slammed the former CNO Boorda for a V-device on a NAM, and drove HIM to suicide.
