If you want to know what they look like then just do an image search using a search engine like Yahoo or Google. Take care!

The images that you will see on the net are rarely typical. 70% of all visual diagnosis done by doctors are incorrect! If doctors are wrong 70% of the time, if is very safe to say that non-experts will be wrong even more often. Using those images to diagnose yourself is almost useless.
The images that are posted are usually the very worst case examples. Few people will have outbreaks that resemble them. 90% of those infected with herpes are not aware they have it, because either they have no symptoms at all, or their symptoms are so mild they do not recognize them as herpes. Of the 10% who do know their status, very few have what they consider serious outbreaks.
If you suspect you are having an outbreak, you should visit your doctor as soon as possible for a culture. Since cultures are very timing sensitive, you should follow up with a type specific blood test.
Anytime something unusual is going on down yonder, you should get it checked out. If it is nothing, then you can rest easy. If it is something, you can get it treated! It is a win win option!

Herpes is an infection that is caused by a herpes simplex virus (HSV). Oral herpes causes cold sores around the mouth or face. Genital herpes affects the genitals, buttocks or anal area. Genital herpes is a STD. You can get it from having sex, even oral sex. The virus can spread even when sores are not present. Mothers can also infect their babies during childbirth.
