I have 2 that like to go outside, but inside too. I do not believe in crating them, they have the run odf the house. I am here most of the day, but they can be outside for an hour...then come in and pee. If tried treats when they go outside (and I see them) and they get no treats when they go in the house. What other suggestions are there?

omg.. my 2 dogs used to do this when they were a few months old.. so freakin' annoying... but what i did was i bought those training pads for them.. i hear that they're attracted to the smell in the pad.. which makes them want to pee or poo on it... i dno but yeh.. it does work.. MOST of the time.. and i usually let them roam outside for about a half an hour or so and they do let it out there too.. and sometimes they'd do it inside and all i did was wipe and clean it up.. and just wished they'd stop letting go in the house.. haha it took about.. almost a month? until they got used to being let out every hour or so, so now, they don't need the pads anymore.. only if no one's home for a while.. and they'd just scratch at the door or our leg when they gotta go.. don't worry.. your dog will get used to it , hopefully.. question: how old are your dogs?

Your dogs are running all over you. Not giving them boundaries (such as a crate) makes them feel as if they're equal to you (or perhaps superior), so peeing in the house to them is no big deal.
Right now your dogs don't respect you because it doesn't seem you discipline them. Not getting a treat is not motivation for a dog, you need to instill discipline and command respect. Sorry to say, but crate training is your best option to get the respect you need for them to stop peeing in your house.

I agree with ebuz01. You need to start disciplining them, not just encouraging the right behaviour. By giving them treats when they go outside, but not giving them treats when they go inside, you are permitting their behaviour indoors, just not encouraging it. They have to understand that it's really not okay to go in the house, not just "less okay". Dogs understand the concept "if I go in the house, I get punished; if I go outside, I get praised". By allowing them to go both inside and outside the house, you are only confusing them because they get a treat sometimes and other times they don't. Dogs need to know the concept of Right and Wrong. So far, you are okay with showing them what's right, but you haven't shown them what's wrong.
If you catch them peeing inside, say "No" firmly, looking them in the eye. Do not punish them if you see a puddle of pee on the carpet; you need to punish them while they are in the act, so that they associate that behaviour as being something that you don't like. Otherwise they won't know what they're being punished for. Likewise, when you see them peeing outside, WHILE they are peeing outside, praise them. You don't have to be all over them, hugging and kissing and feeding them lots of treats. Just smile, say "good dog" and pet them; they will get the idea.
I also don't believe that not crating your dogs causes them to disrespect you. Your dogs can be free in the house but obviously you will continue to have barriers for them - eg no jumping on the bed, no sleeping on the couch, no chewing of furniture, etc.

Walk your dog in early am, praise when they pee, when in the house rope off kitchen area, lay papers down, keep eye out for dog peeing, if he starts sniffing around hes going to go --immediately if you spot him escort him out and praise him when he goes. the dog should be walked in pm also. So he doesn't get out of kitchen till he has learned the habit. 2weeks max. Unless your a filthy person this is how it goes. Your the master, you must set the limits of behavior. And socialize this dog also by making sure he is around people.

I have a dog named Vinze, he runs wild in our backyard. I trained him by scolding him when he does something wrong right after the deed so he will know what he did wrong. Scolding usually involves spanking his face. During the "scolding session", I spank while talking to him in a hard voice, letting him know that you are angry. But also make sure that you are not overdoing it or else the dog might bite you in return.
