Atheism requires nothing. Why follow any laws? You could rape, murder, steal and whatever else you want. No consequences for the afterlife. Christianity requires love of God and all of his commandments. Anybody can lie, cheat, and steal. It's not hard. But to be a Christian and follow God's commandments takes more discipline than anything else. We get ridiculed all the time. Yet we stand firm in our belief. Think of that next time you label Christians as weak minded. By the way, I will pray for every person that gives me a hatefull or rude remark. So, I hope that I get a bunch.

I didn't mean that all non-Christians do these horrible things. What I meant is that without some belief of consequences in the afterlife, then why obey any laws. Someone said morals. Well that is right. Morals are the gifts that God gave us to help discern wrong from right. So if you act in a moral way, then you are living somewhat of a Christian life just by doing that. My point was that it is harder to act in a moral and Christian way than an unmoral, anarchist way. I suppose maybee I did choose the wrong word.

Next time I will word my question more wisely. I guess the question I really wanted to ask was. WHICH TAKES MORE DISCIPLINE, BEING A CHRISTIAN OR AN ANARCHIST? I got good answers from alot of people. I am not trying to complain about it being hard to be a Christian. I am trying to state that it's like school. If you want to do good, then you have to work at it. If you don't care, then you can pretty much do whatever you want, but you will get nothing out of it. To everybody else, sorry for wording it wrongly. Won't happen again.

athiesm isnt that bad, you know i have friends that are athiest, and they are pretty cool, they dont speak negative about christians or anything. and religion should not be about making lifes harder, to follow its guide lines, it should just be about loving god, and doing the best you can. i am orthodox christian myself, and i actually disagree with baptism christianity, seeing how there are only american flags and not one cross in the church, where as orthodox requires a strict schedule and guide lines.

so athiesm isnt bad, its just the choice that some people make, and its their life, you cant force a religion on someone, if they choose not to believe, then its them, you should not be concerned.

and i dont pray everyday or go to church everyday, or do none of those things, but i believe in god, and im against crazy christians trying to put false judgements on athiests, as in calling them law breakers, and rapists. and i think thats exactly what you are doing by biitching about how hard it is being christian. and how athiests think christians are weak minded

"Atheism requires nothing. Why follow any laws? You could rape, murder, steal and whatever else you want. No consequences for the afterlife."

Do you seriously believe this? How about consequences in this life, as in, the only life most atheists believe we have? Not only would any of these activities cause pain and distress to other people, how could you live with yourself knowing that you're purposefully hurting others just because you wanted to?

When someone's an atheist it doesn't mean that they've abandoned all sense of right and wrong, it's more appropriate to say that they have a sound concept of right and wrong without the need for divine punishment to keep them in place.

If Christians truly need the fear of God to stop them from doing the aforementioned actions against others then they are the ones without inherent morals, not atheists.

No doubt you won't actually read this because you're too pig-headed to realise that people who don't follow your religion are right.

So, if Christianity is harder, then isn't that another good reason to become an atheist? You get to sleep in Sunday mornings and never have to toss a dime into a collection plate.

"But to be a Christian and follow God's commandments takes more discipline than anything else."

I'm sure that going through life obsessed that the Bavarian Illuminati is reading your thoughts takes a heckuva lot of discipline too (not to mention tinfoil)--but that doesn't mean it's not a silly and taxing waste of time...

Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not going to make a rude remark, despite the fact that what you've said is incredibly insulting to atheists. Studies show that atheists are no more or less honest than believers, and since about 90% of Americans claim to believe in god, I think you could assume that this means at least 90% of the rapists and murderers in this country are NOT atheists. In fact, it seems that just about every criminal you hear about "finds Jesus" while in prison.
When do you get ridiculed? Our entire society is Christian-centric, right down to having god mentioned on our currency and in our courts--but not, I might point out, in our Constitution.
You are seriously misguided. It's harder to be an atheist for several reasons: one, because it's always harder to think for yourself and learn rather than just blindly believe whatever you've been told. Two--atheists face discrimination in this country, and if you don't believe that is true, tell me, please, how many atheist Presidents or even senators we have had.
Please get your nose out of our bible and learn something about the world in which you live.

I completely agree with you. I was thinking about this the other day, how hard it is to be a Christian. And in todays society it gets harder all the time. People will say that we are not persecuted. But, if you look up persecuted in the dictionary it will tell you that being persecuted means being harassed because of race or religion, etc. Yes, we are persecuted. Maybe not to the degree of other countries, but we will get there soon. I feel sure of that. Because this society is not getting any better, it is getting WORSE.

As far as I understand, Christians are the one who 'could rape, murder, steal and whatever else you want' and have no consequences for the afterlife.

You can always ask for forgiveness from the church right? After all you believe Jesus has died for you sins.

Examples may be wonderful. Watch Pat Robertson. How approximately Westboro Baptist Church, They protested a funeral!!! It would not get plenty extra good than that! And the senator calling a extreme college woman an "evil little difficulty" and rush calling a woman who spoke in public for women's healthcare a "slut" <----- surely examples of Christians being no longer project-free instead of exclaiming "youtube regardless of" declaring that concept in that which does no longer exist is delusional isn't an insult, its explaining a definition.

That's a silly question; we all know that Christians have been, are and will be the most sacrificed, abused, misunderstood, unhappy, mal-treated, confused, lost and many and many others.
We atheists, on the other hand, go on Crusades, burn people at the stake, start two world wars, experiment the atomic bomb, colonize other countries, invade other countries, kill women and children and also men, think that our God is much better than our Gods and so on and so on.
I hate myself.

If you really think atheists think that way then you must be very very weak minded. How arrogant and insulting can you be to your fellow man? Other Christians should be ashamed of people like you pretending to represent them with such foolish and poorly thought out nonsense. Please read your bible and start praying for yourself as you need your God's help more than any atheist ever did. Have a nice day.

I when I was an atheist I had to constantly talk myself into believing there was not a God. Something inside me just knew there was more to the universe than just walking around in a meat jacket and reproducing more meat jackets for no real reason at all. It never fit into what I considered logic.
So, for me, I'd say it's harder to STAY an atheist than it is to STAY a Christian.
