ok, lol
i recently became a new vegetarian, but my sister has been one for many years. it is MUCH healthier to be one than not to be one, don't listen to these others A**holes on here.
ok, read the lables, i was about to buy this vegetable melody soup, wen i read the lable and the soup had chicken startxch in it? "vegetable melody" yea right. Dont look at the name of it, and look at the ingredients.
Second, be sure to by look-alike's. These are soy foods(it actually is VERY GOOD) . I perfer Morning star foods. they taste AMAZING! i just had threr chicken nuggets and fries tonight. lol also, fake ground bef by them is great, so u can eat what ur family eats, except diffrent kinda.
AND be sure to eat vegetables, fruits, nuts, penut butter, milk, and yogurt, A LOT! i am a lacto ovo as well.
hope i helped! :)

You're going to have to read the labels, I'm afraid. But if you do buy canned soup, Amy's is an all-vegetarian company. Fantastic Foods has little soup cups that you only need to add hot water too, and they're all vegetarian. Annie Chun's has a few vegan varieties of soup bowls, including an udon soup that's pretty good. There's also Dr. McDougall's soup cups.
It's just insane, isn't it, that so many so-called "vegetable" soups use meat stocks.

Hi Christina.
I have been a Lacto ovo Vegetarian for over twenty years. My family is Vegetarian. We tend to avoid canned soups do to all of the additives. It is always best to buy fresh frozen foods instead of canned foods. The fun part is making your own soup from scratch. I would suggest that you invest in a very good Vegetarian cookbook. They have so many of them on the market to get you started. You'll have so much fun preparing meatless dishes and trying them out on your family and friends.
Check out 3ABN programming. They have a vegetarian cooking class on their network.
Take care

there is protein in a good style of issues like dairy products, beans, legumes, nut, soy, etc. As you final questions suggested I take it that your going to resign eating chicken? If that's proper then stable for you. additionally beware for gelatin present in some yogurts, gummy goodies, altoids, some gum, plus greater. i could beware for rennet or rennin or animal enzymes in cheeses. maximum cheeses in basic terms record enzymes they do no longer specify if that's animal or no longer, yet a typical cheese that doesn't have that's Tillamook. i could reccomend getting the e book ok, So Now you're a Vegetarian by ability of Lauren Butts. It tells you the nutrition you want and has some recipes that is of use to you.

ok..ya, i went through that phase too. i didn't realize how many things involved animal parts!
well, technically vegetarians can eat gelatin, but most choose not to (if you didn't know, gelatin is ground up animal bones). it's in things like starburts, skittles, candy corns, twizzlers, marshmellows..it's used for structure.
another thing to look out for is rennet (the lining of a calve's stomach--yuck!)
that's all i know of right now--but then again, i've only been veg for 6 months--sooo...i still have lots to learn, right?
hope i helped!

This website gives information about ingredients used in food
http://www.whatisinit.com/frames/frames/whatisinit_new.htm
You just need to read label and know what ingredients are from an animal source.
