See if your family can make the sides vegetarian. Then get yourself some soy and wheat faux meats--there are more great subs out there than I can name. Learn to cook tofu and tempeh, and eat that with the sides the rest of the family is eating.

I have tofu tips on my profile so you never ever have to worry about mushy tofu syndrome.

You're best bet is to go with lovely whole foods like beans and tofu. Eating stuff like boca burgers will make you feel like you're eating meat, but then you're getting a lot of processed ingredients that are removing you from the true food source. Stick with protein sources that are close to their natural state.

i have the same situation, u can buy vegan frozen meals like a vegan burrito of vegitarian lasagna
u can also buy Boca stuff for barbique

NOTE: in my opinion tofu hot dogs are NASTY
u can try them if u want tho

also if when they are preparing sauces you can ask if they can add the meat in last minute so u can take some for yourself before hand

Hope i helped! ;]

also u can make stuff before hand... try using Quinoa, its some indian grain thing... very high in protein and vertually tasteless wen cooked... email me if u want some recipes.

Tofu is one of the best meat substitutes. And it's not as bad tasting as people say, if you put sauce on it.
Another thing is fish. It doesn't quite classify as regular meat, so many vegetarians eat it.

Fish, eggs, or poultry.

One thing you DON'T want to use are soy proteins, such as those strange products from Worthington Foods, or tofu. Most people cannot digest soy properly; it not only doesn't give you the nutrition you think you're getting, but it interferes with the nutrition offered by the other foods you are eating.
