If you are a meat eater, you may want to go lacto-ovo vegetarian first for awhile, untill you've ajusted and learned to cook without meat, etc... Because veganism is aLOT harder.. simply finding things in the grocery store that contain no milk or eggs... NOT always easy..

But veganism is the healthiest diet, if done right.. You just have to eat a wide variety of whole grains, beans, legumes, nuts, fruits, vegetables... and you shouldn't be lacking any nutrient. (Even B12 is found in soy)..

So.. Yeah, it's a good idea!!

Hi The Vert. You can do it.

Take some time and visit your local Seventh-day Adventist Church. They have excellent resources on vegetarianism and veganism. You can even view some health programs on 3ABN if you have a Dish Satellite. The programs will help you make a positive and healthful start into the world of vegetaranism. I have been a Vegetarian for over twenty years. I feel great.

If you're not overly concerned with your health, knock yourself out. Among the non-morbidly obese, meat eaters are far and away healthier than their vegan counterparts.

vegetarian is a very good lifestyle. however vegan is not so healthy, because you can get 98% of proteins from supplements like tofu or soy, but 2% of essential protiens only comes from animal products such as cheese, and milk. so i reccoment that you go with vegetarian instead of vegan.
