I'm a vegetarian and I don't get sick a lot, but when I do, I just like to have whatever I'm craving that I think might agree with my system. Last time, I had lots of juice, oatmeal and bananas, but I'm sure any kind of soup with a veggie broth or miso broth would be good if you want to take the soup route.

Eh when i was little, before i became vegan, any type of soup, especially chicken noodle made me want to projectile vomit when i was sick, lol

and i still wouldn't choose any soup as a sick remedy today.

I guess a good vegetarian vegetable soup would be the answer

hmmm... good question!

Well, I know where to find a vegan "Chicken broth" that has a nice chickeny kinda flavor, but no actual animal products! I could use that to make a nice soup with fake chicken and noodles if I wanted to.. My sis-in-law has actually done that for me when I was sick LOL.. ( one day I am going to make a nice vegetarian "Chicken and dumplings" stew.. sounds so good!!)

or we could eat a nice vegetable soup.. or a mild minestrone...

I honestly haven't been sick since becoming one over two years ago so I wouldn't know. . .

But I do know that when I used to get sick years back, I would sleep most of the time and didn't have much of an appetite. Other than that, it's not like the soup cures sickness. . .I suppose I'd just eat whatever I usually eat.

Great question. It's not just the chicken in the soup that makes it helpful. Heat & lots of garlic help too. I use a Veggie Broth.

Chicken soup has no special medicinal effects, it's all in your head. Miso soup is better for you either way.

There are a few chickenless chikn soups already on the market.

I'm not a veg*n, but in college a friend of mine worked at a sushi bar, and she brought me miso soup when I was sick and it was AMAZING.

It also works wonders for me, when I'm flu sick too.

But... as I am not a veggie, chicken soup does good in a pinch too. Just not red label! Bleh! So much SALT!!! (Not that miso isn't salty... but red label is much, much worse!)

Another type of soup. Soup is comforting..that's all. It doesn't make a person better.

Rice poridge/soup cooked with carrots, peas, sweet potatoes & miso beans, for flavour. Very healing.
