not sure what really causes it, doctor usually prescribes Nystatin swish and spit medicine to treat it. try eating yogurt until you get treatment, active cultures in yogurt help eliminate whatever it is that causes yeasty problems in a womans body.

oral thrush is basically a yeast infection in the mouth, a white matter that sits over a patch of red tender skin, they're usually painful, and the matter is easily wiped off, i don't want to say thrush is only common with people with weak immune systems, such as HIV+ people, i believe it's possible to get oral thrush from poor oral hygiene, but i would consult a doctor to get it taken care of.

The yeast, Candida albicans, is a normal inhabitant of the mouth, but it is usually kept in check by other healthy bacteria in the oral cavity plus our body's natural immunity. If that balance is disturbed, say by long-term antibiotic administration or by disruption of our immune response (such as with HIV), the yeast will take over and thrush will develop.

I dont want to scare you but the my girlfriend was recently diagnosed as hiv positive and she has had oral thrush for sometime. That is my only experience with oral thrush but my advice is to get tested for hiv. God bless

have you had oral sex with someone who has a yeast infection? If so then that could have caused it
