I think its success is a good sign of what most people think.
Did you think I would answer and persecute the fact that Harry Potter is a wizard, witches and spells too?
Its a Movie,not a life manual.
Sorry if I sound rude...I'm just curious as to why you asked Christians what they thought of it,,Why not ask everyone? The opinions will still be the same.Although there is always a critic somewhere as you can see.

well it is considered magic, which is not what God would want. But to actually practice it I would say it is wrong, just to watch something like that I wouldn't say is wrong. Now if you let your child that has no sense of making decisions enough on there own yea. But myself I could watch the movie and not want to go out and learn magic, even though its fake. There is a fine line with these types of things. People are subject to fall into temptation and some can withstand it. Just like R&S people can lose there faith in here because of what someone said. But really the authority is what God has to say about things like this. When exposing yourself to movies that have a lot of cursing and things like that kind of provoke you to live that kind of lifestyle. That is why we are told not to engage in a lifestyle like that. But honestly it depends on the person, like I said I can watch it and still be the same person I was before it but some can't.

If the jesus-freaks had their way, they would ban everything that wasn't praising their god.
Here we have H.potter, a fictional character practising magic.
The god they worship is a fictional character who practices magic. Understand?
I wonder why the religious haven't marched in protest at Superman, protested outside cinemas showing ANY superhero or group of same. There is a recent TV series called 'Heroes' where the main characters have 'supernatural' powers - I suspect that they would want to ban that too.
It's just entertainment!!!
Hey - why aren't the deluded campaigning against Discovery Channel or Nat Geo? Science is given a really good outlet there and most of it contradicts biblical trash. Go for it, fantasy-land dwellers!!!

the late Christian author Madalene Lengle was given a Harry Potter book and she commented that there was nothing underneath it and she only likes to deal with books of substance

She would approve of Lord of the Rings, Narnia and Pilgrim's Progress as they deal with weighty issues... not so Potter

He's a fictional character in a book. the same as the Da Vinci Code. It's only a book, fiction, meaning not true.
By allowing my kids to read the books and watch the movies does not mean that I am promoting witchcraft or whatever you would call it. Just that I want them to exercise their imaginations a little bit.

i'm christian, and i think the writer of those books is in cahoots (spelling?) with the fundamentalist preachers who protest harry potter. i think all the contraversy has been a great way to increase book sales, ticket sales, and video rentals. i wouldn't be at all surprised if she paid a few crazies to speak out against her books/ movies in order to accomplish this.
