Dear Nika and Loufedalis,

The answer on wikipedia is partly true. In Sikhi, active conversion and prostelyzation is not stressed. Instead Guru Nanak, advised those of different faiths to look within their tradition and become a 'true' follower. If you are a Christian, be a true Christian; if you are a Hindu, be a true Hindu, if you are a Muslim, be a true Muslim.

If however after exploring your faith tradition, it is the Sikh path that most speaks to your soul, then I would advise you to begin by purchasing the Sikh prayer book translated into English and read it for yourself. Online translations are available, but due to outdated language, some are often difficult to read. If you have more questions, explore the internet. Websites such as sikhnet.com and sikhs.org are good starting points. For a free Sikh prayer book or to further correspond with me, you can visit www.jakara.org (a Sikh youth website) and through the 'contact us' link we can be in further touch. Best wishes.

If they don't accept converts, from where do they get new members? I am curious as well.
