No, till now there is no definite proof. Many people have breast cancer & they never used implants. The famliy history of breast cancer is the most important factor.

There have been no reliable studies that have concluded that breast implants cause breast cancer. BUT, they can make finding an early breast cancer very difficult. Mammograms are suggested for every woman after the age of 40, yearly. Breast implants make it very difficult to image your breast tissue with mammography. We do special views on implanted breasts to try to show as much breast tissue as we can, but there is still a lot of tissue which is hidden by the implant. You also get a higher dose of radiation with your mammograms because we do double the images on patients with implants.

"Breast implants can interfere with the detection of breast cancer, because the implants can obscure the mammography image of a tumor. Implants therefore have the potential to delay the diagnosis of breast cancer. Although mammography can be performed in ways that minimize the interference of the implants, the most recent research by Miglioretti and colleagues indicated that even so 55% of breast tumors were missed..."

Any foreign body implanted in the human tissues is a potential risk for reaction from the Body's economy. Some of the substances and some of the processes involved in the making of these are highly risky. Unless you have a pathetic obsession with your looks when you are past the prime youth age, I would advise you to be at peace with your body and live happily ever after., instead of falling for all these tanatalising Ads and Promos that hold visions of heaven but dump you in real hell with no one sympathising with you any more. A hand made bodice, with adjustable or knottable ends will give you the right freedom to accentuate or let free the contours of your bosom as the situation demands. Plan it with your personal tailor or fashion designer. It will take care of both the needs.

No, but they can make accurate diagnosis more difficult. The implants have to be pushed aside for mammograms so they can get to the real breast tissue. (they don't tell you that when you get them. They also don't tell you that depending on how they are put in place that you can loose nerve sensation)
