A lot of them are just adaptations of old jokes.
Others are rather obvious puns.

The people who make up and send the sick jokes are the people who own mobile phone networks. By sending them out it generates more business, hence more profit.

I honestly don't know but if someone they loved passed away i don't think they would be making jokes up then. These idiots need to take a step back and think how they would feel if people where making jokes about their loved ones.
