Marcel Marceau was a brillianr mime artist.
He was not very big in England, but I saw him a few times and liked it when he turned up in Mel Brooks Silent Movie with the only speaking part!
I understand he was very popular in China and Japan where visual arts are greatly appreciated,
The world is always a sadder place when it loses one of its geniuses.

Yes, he has been a great artist. He gave his art a noble air, since until him it was considered an "art" of clowns. His ideal was Charly Chaplin, whom he got inspiration from.
He combined mimics, acting, dance and music in a unique result.
It is so sad that great artists leave us one by one and there are not others so talented who worth the empty space they leave behind.
