OK, so I want to get a present of a girl - a ring which she showed me a while back. But I don't know her ring size... so what would be a good way to get it without her suspecting anything? Since I want this to be a suprise =]

OK just FYI - She's my ex-girlfriend but we are still good friends, and I just want to do something nice for her =]
Asking her friends it going to be difficult, and I doubt they would know. She has this other ring she wears alot, I might try and get that and just jokingly try it on myself and see which of my fingers it fits, then take my measurement from that.

You could ask a trustworthy girl friend of hers to help you find out. It'll be less obvious that you're the one who's getting her a ring, and it shouldn't be too difficult. They could go shopping together, and stop by the jewelry section, while the friend tries on rings, she could just give one to her to "see if it looks good on" or something. I do it with my girl friends all the time. =)
You could also try on a ring of hers, and remember how it fits, and on which finger. Then go to the jeweler and try on the different sizes there and see which one fits the same on your finger.
The easiest way would probably be finding out the store's return policy or exchange policy to see if you could come back and get a different size after you give her the gift. Exchanging it for a different size is a better idea than re-sizing it, because re-sizing may change the appearance of the ring, or even ruin the original look.
Each finger of hers may have a slightly different size, so you'll have to figure out which finger she's going to be wearing the ring on. You only mentioned "present" so I'm assuming it's not an engagement ring or something to that effect... hehe. So if you're not sure which finger she wears her rings, or that particular ring she likes, the third option of just buying the ring and exchanging it for a different size if necessary, would be your best option. She won't suspect a thing, because you're not doing anything to find out her ring size, and you'll just present the ring to her. Perfect. =D hehe.
Just be sure to make sure you're able to exchange the ring at the store. :)
Good luck! =D

Make a guess and buy it anyway making sure with the shop keeper that you will return and get the right size if the ring is too big or small..

that would be very difficult to guess her ring size. Maybe you can accompany her to a jewelry store. If she tried on some rings, you can silently ask the sales person about her size.

You let her try your ring out just for fun, come up with some excuse and put it on her. Tell her you think it looks better on her.
She won't suspect a thing.

you guesstimate, if it doesnt fit after you've given it to her, just get it resized.
DO NOT give a ring if you have no intention to marry her. STAY AWAY from rings. If she showed you a ring that means shes testing if you want to marry her. If you dont and give her one you're in huge trouble. Get her earrings or necklace.

get a female friend to do it for you; tell your friend to take her out for shopping, and make accessories one of the shops they go to, then tell your friend to remember her ring size when your gf tries some on

ask the jeweler if you can buy the ring and have it sized after you give it as a gift.
then you can both go back to get it sized and maybe you'll get some after the trip.
