Well by definition, those that think an Atheist believes in god doesn't really know how to use a dictionary. So why would I believe a word they say?

Because they cannot understand nor accept even the notion of existence without their bizarre sky-tyrant in the picture.

They are afraid to contemplate the reality of god not existing, so it's far better to think that everyone really believes in their god and knows that they are telling the truth yet just doesn't like them and/or their god.

Because they keep talking about him and questioning him,so they obviously believe in him but refuse to say so.
If they didn't believe they wouldn't be doing those things and would just not talk about it at all because it would be meaningless.
