If the car is generally in good shape otherwise, it might be worth it to put in the engine and drive it for a while before selling. If the car has other problems or may have them soon like trans, exhaust, brakes, etc.., it would be best to sell it as is and don't spend any more money on it. It all depends on how much you can get for the car as is versus how much is it worth with the engine replaced minus the new engine cost.
KBB.com or Edmunds.com may have info on what the car is worth....I'm guessing a 92 with high miles is only worth a couple thousand.

Well, it really depends on whether you want to change cars. Probably it would be a good idea if you buy another car because the second hand engine is costing quite a lot.

There are various places online to give you the value of the car in your area...for where I am, that sounds really high before the repair...My concern would be that if the engine failed, you might also be facing the transmission replacement also, especially with that mileage. (I assume you meant 350,000 Kilometers, or about 220,000 miles.) I have 245,000 (or so) on my 96 Camry and it is still running strong, but in your position I think I would recommend getting your money back if that is an option.

They were good cars initially. But it is up to you and what the rest of the car looks like to determine that.
