I see the Love and mercy of God when he fed some 5,000 men and women who were hungry. All he had was two fish and a few loaves of bread. He blessed the boy's food and all were fed. There is always mercy in the presence of the Lord. His grace is sufficient.

John 3:16
Romans 10:9

The symbol of the fish has for a very long time been associated with Christianity. Probably for very good reason.

Not only did Jesus perform the miracle of feeding the 5000 with a few fish, but His disciples were for the most part, fishermen. He went on to say that He would make them "Fishers of Men".

Fish were almost a staple food for the people of Jesus time, and were not infected to any degree like we find the fish in many parts of our country today. The large mercury content caused by mills and factories on the shores of our lakes, rivers and streams has polluted the fish to the degree, one should be very cautious in the cooking and eating of such fish..

Gods mercy is shown through the abundance of fish. There is no reason for a man to starve or go hungry, if he lives near the water. His love in shown through the satisfaction that most of us get when we enjoy the sport of fishing.
