We lived in Oregon and my bf was lent 2 furnitures then we moved back to california. She called my bf saying she wants her furniture back after my bf had told her several times before leaving to get her furniture.. she never came to get.. instead of leaving it at the apartment.. since the lease is up.. and getting it thrown away.. he took it with him to cali. The girl calls saying she wants them... because her mom gave it to her. We didn't have the money.. we are still trying to pay our way out of the debt from the move... the next month she tells us.. she doesn't want the furniture she just wants the money... and we still don't have it.. we just borrow a grand from my parents to pay our debts off.. which we got to still pay my parents monthly.. now she called the cops.. in oregon and then the cops in cali.. what will they do? we didn't steal it... we were in oregon for 3 months and been in cali for 3to 4 months since we got back. What's the law for this? I

1. You didn't steal it so there is nothing for the cops to be involved for.

2. She can't demand any money from you because you did not agree to buy the furniture.

3. She CAN ask for the furniture back after that I'm not sure how it would work, but its a small claims case. Personally I would rent a uHaul and drop the stuff off on her lawn when I knew she would be home and take pictures of it before I left.

you would need to prove that you had permission to take the "borrowed items" to another address. The fact that you had given her the telephone number indicates that you had no intention of stealing the furniture, which is in your favour. Can you prove that you asked the owner to retrieve their furniture prior to you moving...email records, phone, or written, witnesses, etc.? If all else fails, better let Judge judy sort it out !. Don't worry, sounds like you're honest to me.!

Sounds to me like possesion is nine-tenths of the law. If she's going to make an issue of it, I guess she'll have to take you to court, or come get her furniture. Oh, well. (drixnot seems to have the right idea.)

Probably nothing, unless she decides to take you to small claims court.
