As science cannot prove or disprove the existence of God, why do so many self professed Christians allude to science as if it will make their case for them?

Has science come to dominate our thinking so much that it is now the measure against any truth must be proven?

A faith can be reasonable for sure, but are not the strength of ones convictions and beliefs the things that make one a Christian?

Remember ...

Faith is another word for "constantly wrestling with doubt."

A confident faith is actually a suspicious faith.

A wrestling kind of faith is everything in religion.

I would say they allude to science to argue (not prove mind you) there case for them because the people who challange there faith also allude to science. So in my opinion it may be a type of "fight fire with fire" kinda of attitude.

Please keep in mind that at this point 100% of people using science to prove/disprove creation by any means have absolutly NO IDEA what they're talking about. If they could prove the later they wouldn't be on Yahoo Answers... they would be telling Steven Hawking to roll out of there way because they just solved the biggest problem in physics/cosmology. In fact most people I debate the subject with... christians/atheists alike can't even spell the term "harmonic oscillator equation"

To answer your last question... I would say yes.. However I also think one should be able to defend there faith in the presence of a public debate as well. The problem with that is both parties are more than likely grossly inaccurate and in all actuality considerably ridiculous sounding.

For the true faithfuls, faith is reason. One day the knowledge of God's existence will be science fact. Science does not have to find God, one day God will show up. It is in the Bible. As for the alluding part, science can be seen any way one wants it to. Evolution vs. intelligent design.

Both science and religion are needed by humans.Einstein said that science without religion is blind and religion without science is lame.Believing in God is a faith and also as the reality. This universe is in existence with its great creator and great regulator and great maintainer.Without God it will be collapsed.Everything in this world has its maker or producer.
We must convince that there are many acts of God such as earth quakes, storms, floods, etc those could not be controlled by humans..All humans will die but no one know when he/she will die and where and what is its cause..A spouse can not having a child although they tried through a specialist doctor but another spouse can not stop their child birth..

Science can however give us the upperhand on what does exist rather than what one choses to believe exists.
the only difference I can see is the ability of some to fool themselves into false thinking calling it faith . they used to do the same thing when the medicine man came around selling snake oil before science got involved now we have to separate the lying rapacious business men that pervert science into lies as well . the truth is out there it just doesn't help to go by blind faith these days .
peace and good luck to you !

Science doesn't deal with "truth"; it deals with what works and what makes sense.

It is important to know the difference here.... as ironically enough, "truth" is a fallacy. It cannot tell you anything about the world you live in because it doesn't exist.
And yes.... believing in any god is a matter of "faith" and devoid of reason..... as reason cannot justify a god, and that leaves only baseless belief (i.e. "faith").

Science is based purely in the combination of reason and quantifiable observations.... and as such has no place for religious dogma.

Christianity relies on both, faith & reasoning.
Reasoning comes first, then faith in what is reasonable of God.

Well... look at it.. what's reason based on? Facts. And faith is the opposite. Of course it's personal convictions and beliefs.

Reason is what you use to gather information on this forum and see what you can derive from the answers.

Yes, you are correct. Faith is not within the realm of reason. The dictionary says so.

Faith then--unreasonable?

peace be on you!!

actually faith should not be blind..

there should be reason.. when you believe on someone.. or on anything..

suppose you go to market and by any stuff..

why do you buy that.. because.. its advertisement makes you satisfy that if you use this you will be benefited.. right..

so understand.. God.. and the religion through reasons.. it should not be blind faith....but logical faith
