Go bug the scientists for empirical proof of God.

2007-09-23 21:24:29 · 15 answers · asked by Anonymous in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

I'm directing this question at anyone who comes to this section and expects proof of God's existence or non-existence.

Do not assume you know what I'm asking - just answer the question or go away.

interesting question.

I am guessing because the scientist would tell them to come over here because there are plenty of people that experience on this contraversy

Science is a belief system in itself that believes in the mental abilities of finite man to comprehend the infinite. Did you know that Science once taught that there were 9 planets but recently they decided that Pluto really is not a planet at all. Imagine that Science was wrong all those years. Science used to say that carrying posies in your pocket would keep you from dying from the Plague. Science also once stated that some bones from a farm in Arkansas were proof of an as yet undiscovered link in the Evolution of man. ;ater they found that their link was actually bones from a man and some from a wild boar, that was a case of a Pig making a Monkey out of a Scientist. So yes Scientist are a faith based religion. Their god is Darwin, and their Temples are laboratories with the bones of bygone things. Their religion offers nothing to man to benefit him and no hope for the future.
But thats just my opinion!

I can see the point. Saying "the proof is on the believers" is nuts. It shows a basic lack of understanding for the word "belief". And asking "prove it" questions in the science areas makes perfect sense since thats the basis of science.

On the other hand, I find it entertaining to put belief things into science (which I suppose should happen in the science forums), and I find it entertaining to see the science people preaching their beliefs based on nothing but faith in what they have been told (which I guess earns them the right to hang out here). :)

Of course belief is based on knowledge and evidence - how obvious is that for a rational person.

The exception is the belief in gods which is not based on knowledge or evidence but simply the belief in another mans' words and blind faith.

Any logical person knows that the existence of gods cannot be proved or disproved (yet). It all boils down to probabilities.

Actually...one of the recent issues of Discover magazine had an article that talked about the "Planck' scale of quantum physics, and that our "consciousness" (or soul if you will)which is a function of our brain tissue, logically must extend all the way down to the timeless "Planck" scale of reality, where there would be ample room for God, Heaven & Eternal Life...since there at the "Plank Scale,"

It is truly "timeless" and "eternal..."

So maybe when Jesus said "The Kingdom of God is Within You..."

He might have been speaking literally...perhaps God is in the small details after all...the extremely small details...which tie directly into the Big Picture as well...

Fascinating, isn't it...? (I've always suspected that if there is a "God," and supernatural unexplainable things, that eventually science and religion would meet head-on, and finally end this Religion/Science animosity...Science will make room for Religion eventually...it's just still working on the "what..."

The "how" and the "why" will have to come later...

Good news for both sides, the way I look at it...a scientific validation of the existence of God would certainly be a joyous occasion for the saver of souls everywhere, don't you think?

Sure make it easier...and all those "unverifiable" arguments on both sides would evaporate...

We are as entitled to put over out views of the non-existence of god as you are to put over yours on existence.

And it works both ways, if we aren't allowed here then why should god botherers be allowed in the science sections to put down things like evolution.

This site is about answering questions, if you don't allow differing sides to have input then all you get is a bland "yes i agree with you" sort of site.

I for one don't want to see that, I like to see differing sides of an argument challenging each other .... as long as they do it without resorting to insults & ridicule.

So, i'm guessing you're directing this question at atheists?

ok, so what about all those questions asked by religious people about evolution and molecular biology, and nuclear phsyics??? Shouldn't THEY be asked in the science sections too?

Actually we have disproofs for some types of god including the most commonly worshipped ones.

How's about you just stop asking stupid questions instead?

By the way, knowledge based on belief is NOT knowledge!

it depends on what you mean by "empirical" in a philosophic sense yes , theres proof, but in a scientific forum hypothesis still are questions to be answered.
