I mean, surely they must realise how *damaging* it is to a child to experience academic and social achievement, even to feel satisfaction in a job well done?
Where will the craziness end? Back in my day, we *learnt* the value of being uneducated, and look at how open minded and clever I've turned out to be?
Maybe *some* very *selfish* mothers should not work, home school their children, grow their own vegatables, and weave their children's *non-teflon coated* clothing from discarded drain hair?

Hello AV! Yes, I am the fake Joan, but in some ways so much more *real*, don't you think?

Discarded drain hair! That's quite a picture. I have to disagree, though. Kids need to be strapped to desks until their homework is complete each day. (joking.) ;)

While I do believe that every family has a right to raise their child the way they want, I am not a grow-your-own/attachment parenting kind of mom.

I AM however a homeschooler. I just wanted to state for the record that not every homeschooler is unrealistic, unreasonable, or crazy.

If you would like to know about the absolutely logical reasons for homeschooling, I would suggest reading Dumbing Us Down by John Taylor Gatto.

Before you write it off completely, please realize that this book is not written by some homeschooling hippy activist. John Gatto has actually taught in the public school system for over 30 YEARS and has been both New York City and New York State teacher of the year. Never were the reasons to homeschool more eloquently or logically written than by this man who has spent decades "in the system".

As a small baby, we had homework from the age of roughly 7 in my customary college (we are going back to the eighty's right here!) and we in basic terms had it two times a week, wednesday and friday. I enjoyed doing my homework, and it did get me waiting for secondary college (whether secondary college there became lots greater!!) i do no longer think of they ought to have an outright ban on it as some young infants choose to do homework. Others are much less vulnerable to choose to do it, so i think of that perchance having homework on a greater staggered foundation such because of the fact the single equipment I observed in school may well be an decision? homework surely stimulates infants and any stimulant that keeps them off of the computer or in front of the television for hours on end is a blessing.

I like your sarcasm, and you are making a good point. You are right...students do need to do schoolwork. However, don't forget that the side you are mocking does have a side of the story... just ask any parent who has a sensitive child. But i give you a million kudos for your humor

Let me guess... you're the fake Joan?

... LOL... I do admit, I am getting quite a chuckle out of seeing the "fake" Joan posts. I almost responded with a smart a$$ answer and then I realized that this was a joke. ;)
