Why can't he stop all this bodily pain? We read in the bible how he puts his hands on people and heals them then why doesn't he stop the pain that attacks my body and makes me feel suicidal? Please tell me because I cant find any reason to believe in him any more.

So far I would say to you all is that you are lucky enough not to have suffered pain to the extent that I have. Its so enormous I would love to die then and there. I dont believe that I am suffering for past actions. I have never hurt anyone in my life and IF there was a previous life I do not think I would have been capable of doing it then either.

I ask myself this question every single day. Believe me, I KNOW your pain and your frustration. No one has an answer to this question. People speculate and just assume, but are unable to really answer. If there is a God, only he knows why......and he sure isn't telling. I don't believe in that crap when they say that God is " teaching us a lesson", or "he's building our character". What lesson takes a lifetime to learn? Does it really take 34 years (my age) to build character?

Bunch of BS!

No one knows why we suffer. They just make sh*t up and call it good. Don't you know that we can't question God?!

They also say "God will never give you more than you can handle"
Ok, then what about the people who commit suicide? Apparently God DID give them more than they could handle!

Edit-
Orchideye is a complete nutcase! Past lives? Are you on drugs?

"The more difficulties one sees in the world the more perfect one becomes. The more you plough and dig the ground the more fertile it becomes. The more you cut the branches of a tree the higher and stronger it grows. The more you put the gold in the fire, the purer it becomes. The more you sharpen the steel by grinding the better it cuts. Therefore, the more sorrows one sees the more perfect one becomes. That is why, in all times, the Prophets of God have had tribulations and difficulties to withstand. The more often the captain of a ship is in the tempest and difficult sailing the more greater his knowledge becomes. Therefore I am happy that you have had great tribulations and difficulties . . . Strange it is that I love you and still I am happy that you have sorrows. "

('Abdu'l-Bahá, Star of the West, vol. XIV, no. 2, p. 41)

I have seen both sides of this phenomenon.

God also suffered pain that words cant describe when he was persecuted by the Romans. He suffered that pain for us. People try and mistake God for a superhero that stopd everyone from making mistakes and hurting people, but that would be easy and there would be no need to judge anyone for their actions.

It comes down to free will: the will to do right or wrong. I dont know why some people suffer but thats the way it is. You must remeber that he also suffered with pain, but you will be reunited with him in heaven and will suffer no more pain.

There is no good answer that I can give you.

It is a question that has plagued mankind for generations and has confounded greater individuals than myself.

I wish I could take away your pain, but I cannot.

The only pitiful suggestion I can make is that you try to focus on what makes live worth living, on what makes you happy and how many people care about you and use that strength to persevere.

If I could reach out and give you a hug I would, but would you settle for a virtual one instead?

the idea of God is for those that need someone to follow. They don't have the confidence for themself to follow their own goodly efforts. As far as I'm concerned the only God is
Goodness and if you fail in goodness then you suffer! It's the law of Karma that's what I believe! There's too much insults and put downs that prove that a personified God doesn't exist. but on the other hand if God does exist.. remember God promised Man he can do what he wants for 1,000 years
this after the time of Noah... God said wrong deeds will bring suffering! Well God didn't realize misunderstandings can bring suffering too... if there is a God! As I said the insulters prove to me there isn't a God! If there is a personified God it's a Cruel God!

I'm sorry you are in so much pain, and I'm aslo sorry that the religious people on here are telling you that it is something to do with you not believing enough, or having done something in a previous life.

All I can say is, there is no god - if there was, why would it allow so much suffering in the world that was supposedly created by god?

You must rely on yourself - positive thinking always helps.

If you give more details of the sort of pain you are suffering I may be able to suggest ways of relieving the pain.

One definate way to help is to go for regular therapeutic massage - this can help in all sorts of ways, both physical and mental. Try to find someone who is a chiropractor or reikki practitioner - they will be able to help in the best way for you.

Good luck.

EDIT: Thank you for the kiss! You can email me if you like, my email link is open. I may be able to help more if I knew what you were suffering with. I'm not medically trained, but both me and my husband have been through some bad times, and have had lots of help from friends.

We can all keep asking why does God do this and that or the other, and why God allows this and that to happen, but think about this - as a young child, did we understand why our parents insist that we do the things they make us do? Does a dog understand why he's not allowed in the house at night? Most likely not.

So why do we assume to be able to understand what reasons God may have for things happening?

My heart goes out to you in your suffering and I will give no glib answers "This is to teach you patience" or such nonsense.
There are things beyond our understanding.
We do, however, live in a fallen world which brings suffering with it...and it does not fall evenly or 'fairly'
When we see the cross, however, it tells us that God has experienced suffering. He knows.
That does not, I know, remove the mystery. People such as Joni Earikson could undersdtand better than I do. (Her books may help)
I promise to pray for you and your situation.

Unfortuantly at the moment God is not in control of the earth. "The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one" (1 John 5:19)

Because of his qualities of Justice and Wisdom he has given the 'Wicked One' and oppurtunity to prove that he is greater. Seems that he is not doing a very good job. This mixed with Free Will isnt helping mankind as we mostly make our own problems.

God has promised that very soon he will step in and take over again. He loves you and always will.

Just hang in there.
Hope I helped.
