I'm not a Christian, I'm Hindu and in my religious background, Hindus are very tolerant and syncretic in their beliefs. I respect all religions (as long as you don't believe in human sacrifice, that I cannot do) but one thing that I've noticed is how so many people equate extremism with Christianity. Why?
Doesn't anyone notice the extremist Muslims out there, who take the term "jihad" way too far, when it's supposed to refer to an internal struggle, not actual war? Has anyone noticed that a few years ago, a Sikh father in Canada murdered his daughter for dating a non-Sikh man? Or perhaps even in Hinduism, where a friend of mine who stated she was not religious to her parents was forced against her will to go to a "special temple" and then drink who knows what to make her "well again"?
I'm trying to point out that religious extremism exists in all religious traditions, not just Christianity.

No I have not lived under a rock but whenever someone talks about politics or any other related topic, it's always about "the religious right" or how people want Christianity/Christian values to take over the country and government.
And I don't think my question is based on the wrong premises. I pointed out that all religions have been guilty of extremism did I not?

Haha there can never be left wing extremists because they're all liberal and tolerant.
