In the Sixties people used to believe that the .357 Magnum could crack an engine block. This was after going through the back of the car, the back firewall, the back seat, the front seat, through the driver, through the front firewall and still break the engine block while fleeing from the police. It was pure hyperbole although a .357 can disable an engine and the right bullet could crack the block if it was a direct hit.
Now I hear a lot of .458 ammo is going to Siberia n Russia because someone over there figured out that a .458 Winchester Mag. will 'take out a car engine.' And no, of course it will NOT take it out of the car. You need wrenches and a lot elbow grease to do that!

The Isrealis developed the Magnum Research Desert Eagle to stop vehicles at checkpoints.
The round preferred, the .50 AE, or action express, delevers a massive amount of force, easily stopping jeeps, yugos, etc.
But, nowadays, thompson center, remington, and sever others have made single shot pistols that shoot rifle cartridges, so there are many choices available.
I prefer my T/C contender in .45-70. I plan on picking up Magnum Research's BFE, biggest finest revolver. That too is available in .45-70. Not bad for a single action revolver.

Why be concerned with the engine at all, when all you have to do is hit the radiator or tires.*
