I'm really "green" - no training whatsoever. Could you please critique these senior pics (light edits) and let me know what's good and bad about them?

If you'd rather see them directly from the site, it's www.w1000w.blogspot.com. Thanks!

In general you have a great eye. Most of the compositions are very good.

I think you need to increase the White Balance Kelvin a bit in the ones near the bottom to warm them up, they look a little too cold.

The one of her in white leaning against the tree - her skin is too red and the contrast too high.

Several of the photos towards the top have the same contrast issue too.

The one of her with the cowboy hat in color sitting down is one of your best. I probably would have used a lower f-stop (2.8) to blow out the background a bit more and make her stand out more.

I like the BW with her in the swing as far as lighting and composition, but you should see at least one if not both of her hands.

Feather your edge burning a little more and not quite so dark. It's affecting the color of her skin and it shouldn't do that.

Are you shooting in RAW at all? If not, give it a try. It will help with the harsh contrast.

You need to work out your skin tones a bit better, which is directly related to your White Balance issues.

You have some real color management issues in every one. Also they are too contrasty and have major blown highlights in several.. When doing portraits, it is bad form to "amputate" fingers. The 3/4 posing that you do in several is harder to get right than either a close-up or full length, you have to be careful where you crop it.

You say "light" edit. Did that re-work involve any contrast and color adjusting? If so, go back to your original and either try again, or post a couple of them unaltered. Assuming the color and contrast can be adjusted, you have a couple that are nice amateur efforts.
