I am attaching the law for Utah. It reads the same as ours here in Arizona.
Although it is legal, it is quite dangerous. If you do, you should disable the air bag on the passenger side, if you can. The force of the air bag can kill an infant.

I am not sure of Utah, but most states have put laws into affect that make it illegal. Air bags in cars can be deadly to an infant in a car seat. There are documented cases of infants in a rear facing car seats in the front that were decapitated when the air bag deployed.
Scot H, you're an *** and obviously have no clue about child safety, stop blaming the government because you wanted a 2 seat sports car and now the government (state or other wise) is forcing you to be responsible for your kid, children in the front seat is a death sentence for the child if you are involved in and accident.

There are several links out there to websites covering the seat belt and infant seat laws in all the states and Canada. Here's one which seems thorough:

If there is an airbag on the side the baby would be on, it's surely illegal. Airbags are a real danger to small children.

To my knowledge it is NEVER legal to drive with a child in the front seat, even in a carseat, because of the possibility of injury or death if the airbag is activated. Children have to go in the back until they are big enough to not need a booster of any kind.

An air bag is not a soft, billowy pillow. To do its important job, an air bag comes out of the dashboard at up to 200 miles per hour — faster than the blink of an eye. The force of an air bag can hurt those who are too close to it.

Take the sedan or SUV Or when the child grows to 85 pounds and always wear seat belts. People don't want to wreck and you may never get hit by a drunk driver.

Why wouldn't it be? Where else would the child ride, in the trunk?
