i am currently in Iraq getting ready to come home. I am supposed to ets about 1 year from when i get home. But on my LES they changed the date from december 08 to april of 09. They did it to a lot of people and said it was a mistake but its been 3 months and I don't think they are gonna fix it. I want out of the army. Are they already stop lossing me, or rather why would they change the date this early. I am mostly worried about being stoplossed for my units next deployment. which depending on where i go will be spring or summer of 09. But why would they change the date now?

happens all the time. at any point during the initial 8 year obligation they can extend your ETS. Most of the time it's just paperwork to cover possible deployment extensions.

My husband is in the military and told me that he know that they did this a lot to people because they are deployed. And if they had to change it because of the units deployment schulde and many people in Iraq. He said they did this so they can keep whole units together because they dont want to send and deal with pulling people from the field and getting them back. We have lots of amry friends and they have been doing this to them too. They have also been changing Pcs dates for this reason.

You have your contract, correct? If not, you can download it on your OMPF (google it, I don't know the url). Anyhow, they can't stop-loss you until 90 days before the unit's deployment date. You might have to make some noise on that (IG, Congress, etc). Just make sure you give your unit time and a chance to correct it, and take it sufficiently up your chain of command (I wouldn't bother any general officers with it. At that point, I would file a complaint.)

my husband had a similar thing happen (hes AF) the reason for his was that when he got back another cycle was leaving and they needed him until the next cycle returned.....maybe thats what happened to you since you said your unit would be due to deploy again around the time they extended you to.
