i know that i am guilty of this. i read the answers of the fundies, and the christians, and the pagans, and of course, being an atheist, the atheists. i have tried to cross boundaries to try to get some kind of response from many folks here on r/s. and yet, here it is. agree with the response......maybe thumbs up. disagree.. thumbs down. If you know that person and they aren't too bad,, no thumbs either way,,,,,, but, if you know that person does not believe what you believe, thumbs down. and maybe a report sent. i think, i don't know, i could be wrong, that although atheists on r/s are my brethren, some, could at least read the questions that these turkeys are asking before they dis it, or read the answers that some of our fellow supposed atheists are giving before giving a thumbs up. last night, i received some rather distressful e-mail from a fundie named "sofia". i read her trash, and then thought of similar e-mails i had received on the atheist end of the spectrum.

I just recently posted a question asking why some feel compelled to answer so rudely and Squirt used the word that I used, respect. I was raised by parents who taught me the value of manners and civility. I can disagree with someone without calling them ignorant. We are on each others contact list. You can see that I have a very diversified list. I do not accept everyone who attemps to connect with me if they seem intolerant or spiteful. I have never mocked anothers belief, though I have been mocked for mine, and received emails that were very unpleasant. I do read the question, and sometimes answer one that is insulting my faith. I will not agree but I will be civil. I do appreciate you for encouraging people to at least read the question through before letting the insults and name calling begin. Some of the insults are not near as witty as the insulting party believes them to be.

Hon.. all of us no matter what group we identify with are doing that. And it seems that the longer we are on Y/A the more likely it is we will assume something about a question or answer without really reading it. It is kind of sad but maybe just human nature...

No - we are trying to stop the diseased christian preachuring. That of what the christians does to expel all that is science and common knowledge and their efforts to create as many delusional people as possible is no less than an insult to the human race.
