My parents introduced me to drink the same as most European countries, with a glass of water with about the same wine in as you would squash then building it up stronger until I was like 13/14 and it was just wine/ beer depending on the meal, so think i started at about 7/8.

At our family re-unions, it was common for Grandpas to give kids sips of beer. Everyone around the boccie court had some for the kids. I would say most of us got a few tastes of beer by age 6. Didn't do this on my own til I was 16.
