This is purposely one long answer... and is way too important to address lightly, certainly too important to address it via Yahoo Answers alone.
I should hope that in this instance when you say Speed, you are speaking of a legal medication under a licensed doctor's prescription and advice -- for Speed can be very dangerous and can cause acute (sudden) hypertension; otherwise is it dangerous to the entire nervous system; as well, the entire circulatory system: in short, your entire body.
You now have to take control of your own well-being, by listening and abiding your body's own innate signals first of all.
Here is something that hints to me that you have somewhat insight toward a resolve to this: -- "is there anything that is not so strong but still lets your brain keep a normal level?"
This has let me know that you have now the key and know the first right question to ask.
The answer is absolutely yes.
Do not stop pursuing an answer:
There are allopathic medical doctors who specialize in this area;... there are naturopathic doctors who specialize in this area;... there are neurologists who specialize in this area;... there are Asian-Oriental doctors who specialize in this area;... there are sociologists who specialize in this area; there are families with members who face this condition; there are nutritionists and dietitians who specialize in this area;... there are physiologists who specialize in this area as well as athletics professionals who specialize in this area;... as are doctors themselves who have parents or spouses or children with this condition and thus we must correctly so consider that they, too, specialize in this area.
Go now and seek these people out, people who will be open... Openness in others is key -- not solely is the credentials they possess that they got in the schools and institutes.
You are an expert...an expert in you!
What you should want, in other words, are ' insights ' that allows you to return balance to yourself for yourself. Do not allow some one medication or several medications got up by some pharmaceutical company dictate your lot in life. These chemistries are developed in a pharmacological laboratory, whose scientists know primarily only the molecular conflictions and resonance; and above all, the ' profits ' they can make by dealing these extreme medications.
These medications in themselves are two-dimensional things and can tell you little of the unique physiology that you have and are as an individual.
A physician does not necessarily know these things unless you suggest he or she look deeper into them, if for nothing more than from an ethical standpoint.
Last, look earnestly toward the natural therapies in addition to the traditional ones, which is why I outlined above a list of professionals to give you ideas -- initiated by you and your family (and friends).
Sleeping sixteen hours a day is not what you should wish to settle for... And such medications that cause this should be at once considered contraindicated: sixteen hours of a day is 67% (or two-thirds) of your day in a state of sleep -- not "normal" at all you do agree, yes?
Ask any doctor if he could earn his living with only 8 hours (or 33%) to do ' all ' he needs to each day for the remainder of his years. He can't! 'And should not have to...
Nobody should... Nor should you...
Put things in context for yourself. And pose this same supposition to your doctor in this same light!
Make it your own personal charge and an essential project for yourself. And under no circumstance do you ever self-diagnose nor bog yourself down with analysis or ever dare self-medicate...
'Get it!? All right, so go now and get healed and find a mainstay of cures for yourself. The Universes expect no less than this of you!

After time you will destroy your dopamine receptors. When you quit using speed you will experience major depression since you already have it. It can even cause the paxil to do the opposite and make you feel even more depressed when you stop. Stop now before you get hooked.
I live in the states and for Ritalin to be prescribed all other adhd medicines have to have been tryied and failed. It has a black box warning which means in can cause DEATH. It has caused hundreds of deaths dear. Kids with no heatlh problems. It has killed them. If you have a heart problem or are over the age of 30 you are asking for it. It has cause heartattcks and strokes in kids.
I understand the want to feel that way but...is it worth it?
Google Ritalin. You need to see all the things it has caused before you take another one. At least know what is going into your body and all the risks associated with it. That's the least you can do for yourself.

Speed's highly addictive and eventually damages organs you really don't want to damage. If Ritalin isn't cutting it for your ADD, go back to the doc and talk about an adjustment or different med. To me, it sounds like your solution probably is with another antidepressant. Wellbutrin plays with dopamine, so maybe that's worth a shot if speed makes you feel better. Another way to do is an SNRI, they block reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine as well as dopamine at high doses. Norepinephrine is like speed in some respects. And, yeh, there is some controversial consideration of speed to treat depression - but that's with meds that aren't anywhere like street drugs.

Hook yourself to a 12 volt battery with a button activator. Give yourself a jolt when you start to doze off. Speed destroyes the dopamine receptors. More speed required for less effect. Soon you are unable to experience the normal range of emotions. You are on a slippery slope that gets steeper with each pill.

As Alex mentioned Welbutrin, it is said to be the closest thing to speed. I new a girl on it for depression, and she said she laughed all the time, if you stick with it. It is prescribed for depression.
Also make sure you are taking super Vitamins and Minerals w/Amino Acids each day as a healthy diet makes a difference also. llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

DZ, Do your self a favour Mate, Get off them all. You are chewing one Bad Drug to compensate the other. Speed will get you and you will end up in the Obit's section of your Newspaper. You have so much life ahead. Do not destroy your life now. Be Strong and work past it. Nothing is handed to you that is a Silver Bullet. You must work against it. I really feel for You.

It was legal until they found it kills when morons over dose and it slowly kills brain cells. If you do not mind knowing you are doing something illegal and are ready to face the fact that is bad for you and you do not care that if you drive on it and get caught you could get in trouble for it then do what you want.I on the other hand would NOT recomend you do it.Get lots of exercise and drink lots of water they both will help you fell alittle better , and go dancing it is really good for you.

i hav e done alot of drugs, and i must say that speed was my favorite. still is. i went to rehab to get clean and i was for a little while, but i relapsed and im using again. i wouldnt say that im in really bad shape, but im broke and unhealthy.
bottom line is, its not a good way to be. if yoyu have a prescription and are taking it becase you need it well go ahead, but if you tak eit because of the feeling or you take it more than recommended then stop before this becomes a full blown addiction.
take it froim someone who knows, i started and couildnt stop. its not wrong to feel better, it feels great, i know. but its wrong to use uit only because it feels good.
tkae care, email me if you need to tlak.

Yeah, it's not right, not in today's world but there's a legal way to get high. I drink pepsi 24/7 until my teeth rot out.

I think speed causes imbalances by giving a really harsh come-down and you're better off staying away from it.
