i have no adult record, not even any tickets, i was wondering however... if the Coast Guard checks juvenile records, because there are considered "sealed by state law"

When you turn 18 you can request that any juvenile records be expunged, as long as you have staid out of trouble.

If for some reason, you need a secret or higher clearance, you can bet they'll be digging into your juvenile record. Just because you might have a juvy record, that won't disqualify you for a clearance but they'll be asking you about it. They understand that kids are stupid and make dumb mistakes so if you've stayed straight since then, the worries should me minimal. "Sealed by state law" means nothing to the federal government. The people doing the background checks (FBI, NCIS, NSA, etc.) have the authority to open those records without a court order. I had a juvy record before joining the Navy and they still granted me a Top Secret or above security clearance. Needed it to be a submariner.

Yes, they check your juvenile records. When you're filling out your SF-86 it'll ask about ANY involvement you've had with the police, both as a minor and an adult.
I'm in the process of getting back in and they still had to check up on some stupid little thing my friends and I did over 15 years ago.

Juvinille records being sealed by state law is an urban myth ! So is "expongement".

If you screwed up when you were a juvinille that fact is taken into account when granting waivers. Failuure to disclose at time of enlistment consitiutes Enlistment fraud and that is a felony.

Evan if you were lucky enough not to get caught after enlistment, you most assuridity will when they run your background check for a security clearance.

Honesty is the best policy if your really looking to make a fresh start.

My 16 year old son was arrested for shoplifting a 12 dollar bottle of vodka and was charged with a Burglary. The next day in court the judge drops the Burglary charge and gives a petit larceny shoplifting charge. He just truned 18 and all four military branches told him he is disqualified from the military for the original charge of burglary. One recruiter walked us out to the parking lot and told us to go to another state and a new recruiter and told my son to "keep his mouth shut" and he would have no problem getting in the military. He told us that they only run a locals check and don't check other states for juvenile records. He added "don't give us a reason to go looking and we won't". Well it worked he got in.

yes, they have access to it. No such thing as being sealed when it comes to the military and gaining access. you must sign a waiver allowing them full access. if you don't sign it, then they will not continue with your enlistment process.

you MUST disclose EVERYTHING, even juevenile charges.
