Why is it that so many people read Matthew 7:1 and stop there? If they were to read on to verse 5, there they would see that we are to judge. Here in these scriptures there are two judgements that take place.
1.We judge ourselves by taking the beam from our own eye first.
2.We judge our brother after we have dealt with ourselves first.
Mat 7:1 "Judge not, that ye be not judged.
Vs.2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Vs.3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Vs.4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Vs.5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."

Your both telling me that I shouldn't judge while judging me.We are not to judge as a hypocrite.Read Matthew 18:15-17 and you will see your errror. We are not to go with the attitude that the world has.We go to judge the situation. We go to prove if our Brother is doing what God wants. Is this of the Lord or not?Does my Brother/Sister need help?We go out of love because we care enough to deny ourselve and do what the word of God tells us to do. To not do as God's word instructs is nothing less than false pride.

Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

To "Judge" in the manner you are "suggesting" you are "condeming". We are NOT to "condemn"! That is God's Job alone. He is the Only One that can truly SEE "all" of our hearts. We have the ability to "inspect" the "fruits" of what other's are doing, but we can NOT see into one another's heart to see all the motivations that are causing the "behavior". Nor have we "walked in another's shoes".
If you take the verses 7:1 thru 5 in CONTEXT...what Jesus is attempting to tell people is that in whatever manner YOU "judge", you should THINK carefully about it, because that "same measure" ( the same way that YOU made the "judgement call" about another), is the SAME way that it will be measured back to you. Recall the parable the Jesus told in Matthew 18: 23-35. (Worth the "read!")
People have ALL kinds of "reasons" for the things they do, & the way the do them...but the kindness that our Savior showed is to be our BEST example. For to "mete" out kindness even when it is in response for the mean things that may have been said or done to you or against you, would that not be rewarded in Heaven, where it really matters?
I heard a neat quote today that I thot I would pass along...
"God does NOT NEED YOU!...but He does WANT YOU!"
(above quote from; Mark Hall...lead singer for Casting Crowns)
God can accomplish the salvation of ALL those that are His...all we have to do is daily pick up our cross & follow Christ.
Love God with all your being...and love your Neighbor.....(all the rest of the folks that God brings into your "space")... love them as well or better than you love yourself!
Then you have accomplished the task that God has set for you to do. :)

I think it goes further than that. I think that the beam itself is the judgmental attitude. That is what we need to get rid of before we can help anyone else out of their sin. If we don't, all we are going to do is to do that person more damage.
Also, we are talking about two different kinds of judgment here. We need to be able to separate the person from the sin. God hates the sin, but he loves the person. We need to be able to judge the sin without judging the person who God loves.
This chapter goes on to talk about false prophets. It defines them as those who appear to be in sheep's clothing (one of us) but are inwardly raving wolves (who rip people to shreds). Are not these those who judge the person?

We will know them by their fruits. Don't try to pluck the splinter from your brother's eye when you have a plank (for some of us It's a tree) sticking from your own eye.We are to examine our heart daily to make sure that we're still living In the faith.I think we have to be lead by God's Holy Spirit when Ministering to others. If It's your brother or sister In the faith. We are told to gently restore them, lest we fall Into the same temptation.

Unlike God.. we cannot know the thoughts and intents of the hearts of men.
We ourselves should watch and have the Lord search our being. The root of people judging others is self righteousness. May we open to the Lord and give Him a way to preserve us from that sin.
Its easy to expose others.. even other's weakness.. but it takes the Love of God to truly cover one another's shortcomings. Cover them with our prayers.. even those who sin against us..
Had a situation like that this week.. where there was a real need to cover another member of the Body of Christ. So many times my flesh rose up to judge this sister.. to be justified in my judgement and Christless thoughts and comments. But the Lord in mercy was able to rescue me.. not just myself but my husband.. we both prayed for this sister.. Yesterday she showed up for Church and the sweetness of the Lord was able to restore us.
Lets be ever so watchful inwardly. There is ONLY ONE accuser of the bretheren... and he does not need our help.. Satan points a finger at us all day long. We are not perfect..but we are under the perfect Blood of Jesus Christ!
Hallelujah!
ur sister

Jesus, on many occasions says "beware of false teachers". Over and over He says it. We are not to believe every person that comes our way. We are to judge everything according to the scriptures. I whole heartedly think that so many cults, the occult and false religion even exists because people fail to judge what people teach, alligning what they hear to what the Holy Bible says.
I also believe that when we do go to someone to talk to them about sin that may be in their lives, we need to go in humility, remembering first, our sin and how much has God forgiven us. Then, in love go to the person to talk about the speck in their eye.

You can only see the beam of sin and error in your own eye by the doctrine of Jesus Christ, and then you are able to help your brother deal with his sin and error.
Before you learn the true doctrine of Christ you are likely to condemn others for their sin because you are in error, but knowing the doctrine of Christ means that you know freedom from the deceivableness of sin and you can help your brother get free from it also.

When we judge someone or something, we are trying to take the place of God. Any judging counts-not just self sins.
