Let's say for the sake of argument that god exists.
Could it be that he remains invisible to see how we act when we think he's not looking. If we had proof god exists, wouldn't we be good for the sake of gaining favor? Perhaps god wants us to become good people on our own, because that is the only way our goodness is genuine.

Good point! Is a person behaving because they're genuinely good, or are they behaving because somebody is looking over their shoulder?

Look at it this way. If you were god, would you rather have people worship you because they wanted to, or because they had to?

We could talk for a long time about Gods visibility, I see God everywhere. When I look at a blade of grass, or the wind blowing through the pine trees, or many other things in nature, I see God.

God could have, made us all good. It really started out that way, but God gave man free will. In mans free will, he decided that he did not need God, and the fall from grace began. God does want us to become good people on our own. He wants us to choose Him and His way. But He wants us to come to Him because we want to, not because we had to.

That may be the case but so what? Some people may never be good but the misery caused by the natural world this supposed god supposedly created is just as great as that caused by people's actions. Earthquakes and tsunamis, floods and hurricanes kill thousands; children die slow painful deaths from cancer. If this god wants to be appreciated as some kind of new-age, hands-off parent who lets his children make their own mistakes, he should stop behaving like a tyrannical megalomaniac who destroys lives and tortures people just for the fun of it.

I believe that there's a strong possibility that god does exist (or someone who likes to go by that name, anyway), BUT I don't believe that people should care whether he's watching them or not. Just be yourselves & don't care about what god thinks of you, the same as you shouldn't care about what other people think of you.

The believers assert he is always watching. That would mean the believers are thwarting God's plan.

He gave you free-will to screw up your own life or not. It's ultimately up to you.
